Ann Blagden

Offering women's confidence-building through Egyptian Belly Dance

Egyptian dance is a wonderful way to tone the body and generate confidence, grace and sensuality while having fun.

Ann is an experienced teacher, dancer and guest speaker, whose love of Asian and Middle Eastern music and dance was inspired whilst living in London for many years, within a multi-cultural environment.

Ann believes that people learn best when they feel safe, relaxed and are having fun, so she endeavours to make everyone feel comfortable and welcome in her classes and workshops. The classes are kept small, enabling her to give quality time to each student as she helps them to develop their full potential.

Ann has studied with acclaimed global dance teachers representing Indian and Middle Eastern traditional and modern styles, but favours classical Egyptian style and attends regular courses to update her skills and knowledge.

Ann has acquired City & Guilds 7302 and CFET 7407 teaching qualifications and has an Open College Network qualification in the 'Safe Teaching of Arabic Dance' Ann started teaching at the Isbourne Centre in 2005, where Egyptian Spirit Belly Dance was born and now teaches beginner, intermediate and performance Middle Eastern dance in the Cheltenham area.

Ann has been involved in working with the Bedouin of the Sinai desert, which has brought her closer to traditional values and culture through her work with the Makhad Trust. The Egyptian Spirit performers and students have raised funds to sponsor five Bedouin gardens to enable the Bedouin to continue to live in their mountain homes.

Ann offers a variety of classes and talks to suit individual needs and also offers one-to- one sessions and belly dance and Bollywood parties at the Isbourne.
