Shiatsu is Japanese for 'finger pressure' and is a form of whole-body physical therapy that employs the practitioner's hands, thumbs and feet to massage, press, stretch and manipulate along particular energy channels or meridians. The aim is to restore the flow of Qi (chi) around the body which in turn restores health and wellbeing. You remain clothed during a shiatsu session, and usually lie on the floor on a mat, though seated shiatsu is also possible.
