IN-HOUSE: MANDALA VINYASA
Sunny Warbout
Mandala Vinyasa is a beautiful intelligently designed practice that will help connect each individual with their own physical, mental, emotional and spiritual awareness. It is a fun and creative sequence where the body will move in a circular pattern on the yoga mat, much like a Mandala itself.
Mandala is a geometrical figure representing the Universe connecting us with the four elements - Earth, Water, Fire and Air. Each of these corresponds with their Chakra in the body and relates to an Asana (posture or seat) in the practice.
Chakras are energy wheels situated along the spine like switches;
- Earth corresponds to Muladhara Chakra, situated at the root of the spine and it is associated to our grounding and connection to the Earth.
- Water corresponds to Swadishtana Chakra, situated at the tip of the coccyx and it is associated with seeking personal pleasures.
- Fire corresponds to Manipura situated in the solar plexus and it is associated with our ego, personal power and the need for recognition.
- Air corresponds to Anahata Chakra situated in the seat of feeling, the heart and it is associated with our emotions, our identity and our true self.
Geometric shapes are closed figures created using points, line segments, circles, and curves. Such shapes can be seen everywhere around us. It brings our awareness to nature so that we can feel and see Mother Nature is continuously moving and evolving, making shapes in all different directions; bringing our intention to the importance of “sacred geometry in nature” in our lives.
There is a strong focus on our intention during the sequence, holding it firmly in our mind whilst we give our energy to the practice.
This class is based on a Vinyasa practice taking you through a conscious flow, guiding your mind and body through Asanas (postures or seat) that will help connecting the breath and movement of the body to arrive in a joyful state of balance and harmony.
Mandala Vinyasa is a slower paced dynamic flow practice that is suitable for both beginners and more advanced students. All will be able to make this practice their own and as challenging as they would like it to be, modifications and guidance can be offered to suit each student if needed.
Honouring and nurturing your own body and practicing in such a way will lead you to a happy, joyful and balanced whole wellbeing.
The practice, our connection with the Earth and its elements and to nature itself will unlock that space of freedom within ourselves that will help us moving forward in our lives.
